Developing a training stategy
- Enables the identification of skill gaps and identifies plans to meet them
- Training is targeted in a timely effective manner
- Forward planning ensures availability of trainers and trainees
- Cost effective in that one set of training can be delivered across several areas
What MHIP did
At a national level, a Learning and Development Plan was agreed for the programme as a whole. This plan can be seen in the MHIP Service Improvement Framework.
All pilot sites carried out a training needs analysis in their own areas (see an example of this at the end of the MHIP Service Improvement Framework). Plans to address these were then developed. An example can be seen by clicking on South Staffs training strategy.
Specific training for all 4 pilot sites was also offered. As a baseline all programme leads completed the Clinical Systems Improvement Training. Pilot sites also took part in Accelerated Redesign training and were given the opportunity to have one day of 'Creating Organisational Data Sanity'.
