Department of Health and the SHAs agree changes to the way CSIP works

The Department of Health and the SHAs have implemented changes to the way the Care Services Improvement Partnership (CSIP) works. From April 1 2008, the regional development centres (RDCs) will be hosted by the SHAs. CSIP will become a partnership of four national improvement programmes - the Social Care Programmes, NIHME, Children and Families, and Health Offender Partnerships - delivered regionally through eight RDCs. National co-ordination will be supported by a small central team - the national support office.

The national support office will take on a coordinating role in 2008/09 for DH funded commissions, although there will be maximum devolution of funds to individual RDCs to help implement social care policy and the objectives of the DH regional presence programme.
