LINKs Regional Projects

There are two LINKs regional projects:

LINKs sitting on the NHS East of England's (Strategic Health Authority) Clinical Programme Boards

In early 2009 LINks began to consider the request from the NHS East of England for people involved in LINks to sit on their 10 Clinical Programme Boards. Having written to all the LINKs and received majority support for this request, people were invited to express an interest in one of the 10 Boards. These expressions are currently being looked at and people will be placed on to the Boards in the near future.

Once people have been allocated to the Clinical Programme Boards there will be mechanisms in place to ensure they are supported in their new roles and are connected to all LINKs across the East of England.

LINKS regional collaborative working proposal

Each LINk is a stand-alone organisation but in the Eastern Region it is recognised that commissioning and the provision of health and social care services crosses all the local authority boundaries on which the LINks are based. People involved with LINks are aware of a range of cross boarder and regionally commissioned services and consider formal rather than informal collaboration might be a more effective way of working to achieve:

  • Improved communications between LINks about cross border and regional issues
  • Avoid duplication and use information effectively
  • Enhanced service user, patient and public influence on regional decisions and commissioning

A small working group of people involved in LINks from across the East of England are currently discussing the possibilities of this idea with the Department of Health Social Care and Local Partnerships team at GO East.
