Dignity Action Day is on 25th February 2010 - Give the Gift of Time

The First Dignity Action Day is taking place on 25th February 2010!

On this day, health and social care workers are asked to take action in their place of work to promote dignity and members of the public to do what they can to take action to promote dignity for people in their communities.

You can see the pledges people have made on an interactive map on the dignity website.

In our area, for example:

  • someone has pledged to RAISE AWARENESS OF CARE DELIVERED WITH DIGNITY by using role play with staff to help them understand what it is like to be dependant on some one else for every need.
  • someone else at the Seckford Day Centre in Woodbridge has set up a "Hand & Nail Care Session" - an afternoon where any individual from their Residential Home, Very Sheltered accommodation or Day Centre can attend for nail care and a soothing hand massage.

The national Dignity Team have produced two electronic resource packs - one for health and social care staff and one for individuals and community groups - full of ideas, useful information and support on how people can support Dignity Action Day.

More information can be found on the DH Dignity website.
