Carer Experience Programme

Introduction

The Regional Carers Experience Programme has been commissioned by the Patient & Carer Experience Board at the NHS East of England. The work is jointly supported by the DH East of England Social Care and Partnerships team.

This additional Regional resource will enable the operationalisation of existing strategic regional plans for transforming carers experience in the East of England. The activities approved within this progtramme will specifically support the concept of:

• joint working across health and social care organisations;
• alignment with National Legislation and Government strategies
• the importance of considering carers experience across all the Clinical Boards of the NHS East of England relevant to the population groups being addressed.

Objectives

• Develop a joint Health and Social Care Regional Carers Strategy that will support delivery of the national strategy and ensure coherence between Local Authority, PCT and voluntary sector development work around transforming carer experience
• Define and support the work of the Regional Carers Leadership Board
• Ensure appropriate support, information and accountabilities  are in place to enable PCTs to deliver on Operational Plans 2009/11
• Identify and establish links with all NHS Clinical Programme Boards in relation to how they are working on carers issues for their relevant population groups.
