Susannah Howard (formerly ‘Rix') is the Head of the Eastern Development Centre.  Susannah has been in a leading role at Eastern Development Centre since its early beginnings in 2001 as part of NIMHE and then CSIP. After beginning her career as a Research Psychologist, she has worked in a variety of academic and managerial positions for the Department of Health, The Royal College of Psychiatrists' Research Unit, Health Advisory Service and the Commission for Health Improvement. She has published widely and worked with the World Health Organization in several countries. She is currently seconded part-time to the Department of Health as the UK National Counterpart for Mental Health to WHO. In 2007 she led a successful bid to the Big Lottery Fund for £4 million which now supports the regional portfolio of 25 local ‘Well-being in the East' projects. Her specific interests are in encouraging a more humane and common sense approach to our individual health that encourages well-being and focuses on strengths.
