The awards acknowledge people, teams and organisations whose work in mental health services has made a positive impact on people’s lives. Projects, teams organisations of all sizes working in mental health services in the public, private and voluntary sectors who feel they have something to share apply for the awards and our aim is to capture examples of any practice, which has made a positive impact on peoples lives, celebrate and share it so that others can also benefit it. the 2005 awards were the third to take place and were a fantastic success.
Talking about the significance of these awards, positive practice group chair, and founder of the Awards, Tony Russell said: “I think it’s essential to award people who work in a difficult field. We need to identify positive practice, to reward it and to disseminate it so that examples spread across our services.
“From a person who uses services perspective itmakes sense to have awards like this because they encourage and motivate staff. I know that ultimately service users will benefit more from a happy and motivated team.”
